At the beginning of 1990, she started acting and dancing professionally in the Boulder Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. Later she was in Minnesota in a small local theater, she was chosen to be a part of the mock documentary about beauty pageants called Drop Dead Gorgeous. She also raised Kelly Curtis, Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh's film career began in late 1940s after she was accepted by MGM. The actress was discovered by Norma Shearer. Through the years that followed her appearances in many popular films including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), and Living It Up by Martin and Lewis (a 1954 film).
